Baroque4Tech – Lights ON!

Baroque4Tech – Lights ON!

The National Museum of Art Timisoara continues to explore the intersection between art, science and technology by organizing the event “Baroque4Tech”. This event, part of the “Baroque Reloaded” project, will take place on Thursday, 30 May 2024 and promises to bring to the forefront a grandiose spectacle organized around three distinct elements: the inauguration of the new lighting system of the Baroque Palace, the organization of a multimedia exhibition and a concert with multi-sensorial valences.

The space of Gallery L will be valorized through a multimedia exhibition that aims to provide a comprehensive perspective on the evolution of the previous year’s events. The exhibition will highlight the MNArT’s heritage and the architecture of the Baroque Palace through projections realized with high-performance equipment and specific technical facilities used for the first time in the museum, which were acquired on the occasion of 2023 Timisoara – European Capital of Culture.

The projected images will recall the most representative events that took place in 2023 and illustrate their legacy, including personal impressions and participatory drawings made during the cultural mediation workshops with the public. Each visual element will provide a window into the emotions, thoughts and perspectives of those involved, highlighting the cultural and social importance of the museum within the dynamics of the community.

As a special feature, at dusk, we will inaugurate the new chromatic signaling system of the presence of the Art Museum in the public space by dynamically transforming the Baroque façade through a light show configured in relation to the architectural volumes and the full-hollow relationship of the Baroque Palace. The color palette is inspired by the chromatic range of the Baroque, reinterpreted through the most advanced lighting technologies combining optics, electronics and intelligent design.

The museum’s new lighting system will shape a new personality of the MNArT’s presence in the public space contributing to a fascinating perception of the Union Square, while highlighting the museum as a living and colorful organism that signals the new pulse of the city, beyond 2023.

From 21:30, the evening will culminate with a concert by the band Survolaj, held under the dome of the tree wrapped in video projections, in the mysterious atmosphere of the inner courtyard on Mercy Street of the Baroque Palace, with a nice and involved audience.
