The National Museum of Art Timisoara opens “The Buffet of the Senses@ ARCADA Gallery”

initiated by Recaș Wineries on the occasion of the European Capital of Culture

In the continuation of the cultural program Timisoara CEaC 2023, the National Art Museum Timisoara, together with Recaș Wine Cellars, supports the promotion of initiatives that have left their mark on the cultural and artistic potential of the European Capital of Culture by integrating the interactive exhibition “Buffet of the Senses” in the Arcada Gallery. The idea for this concept was born on the initiative of Narcis Georgiu (the sommelier of Cramelor Recaș), and the framework for the collaboration with
the museum was set in the context of the project Baroque Reloaded by MNArT, Multispectral Baroque – Museum connects with wines. The aim of this interdisciplinary approach is to familiarize visitors with the “anatomy” of wine, offering them a multisensory experience that allows them to interact with the main structural elements of wine through the use of olfactory, tactile and visual senses, bridging the gap to the visual arts.

The entire exhibition is organized around two main installations, arranged on display pedestal modules, which allow groups of up to 20 people to access the experience at the same time. The first installation of the exhibition is designed to show the full range of nuances that wines can take on, explained according to variety or terroir. The second installation proposes using the sense of smell to discover the dozens of flavors we often find in the glass and the structure of wine, represented by various objects and materials that we invite you to discover. In this section, visitors can also discover the olfactory nuances specific to the most common faults in wine for educational purposes. Each container has a number and a flavor associated with it, which can be verified by scanning a QR code that redirects to www.cramelerecas.ro, where visitors can find more explanations about their specificity. Thus, through this exhibition, visitors can test their own tasting skills, which can then be verified with the information available just a click away. Each item on display in the two installations is also accompanied by explanations printed on the display table, which each visitor can discover on their own, without the need for dedicated assistance.

The exhibition can be visited individually, at the price of the standard MNArT ticket, in the Arcada Gallery of the National Art Museum Timișoara, starting May 24, according to the usual visiting hours, from Wednesday to Sunday, from 13:00 to 21:00.
